Arsenal Boss Mikel Arteta Speaks On Aubameyang’s Red Card

January 16th, 2020 by admin

The Gabon striker, 30, was booked for a tackle on Max Meyer in the 1-1 draw at Crystal Palace but the video assistant referee overturned the decision.

Arsenal appealed against Aubameyang’s red card but his suspension will stand.

“It’s a big  loss for us, but he mistimed the tackle and we have to accept it,” said Arteta.

“It’s an action that is completely accidental, in my opinion. He’s been superb under me, he’s working so hard. He’s scoring goals and has probably been the most important player so to lose him is really bad news for us.

“Players have to step up. You know, when one of your big players is not there, they have to take responsibility.”

BREAKING! Africa Cup Of Nations 2021 Moved To This Date

January 16th, 2020 by admin

The tournament was scheduled to take place in June and July but was changed because of the “unfavourable” weather in the country at that time of year.

It means a number of Premier League clubs could be without first-team players at a crucial stage of the season.

The 2019 tournament in Egypt was the first one to be held in the summer.

Before that, the Cup of Nations had been held in January and February, clashing with the European domestic season.

The change back to a January start means that the tournament will not clash with the expanded Club World Cup, being held in China in June 2021.

Following a meeting on Wednesday with representatives from the Confederation of African Football (Caf), including president Ahmad, the Cameroon Football Federation (Fecafoot) tweeted: “It [2021 Africa Cup of Nations] will be played in Cameroon from 9 January to 6 February, 2021. Date changed for weather reasons at Cameroon’s request.”

Caf’s deputy general secretary Tony Baffoe said:

“We have reviewed the period of the competition as requested by the Cameroonian party due to unfavourable climatic conditions during the period initially slated.

“After listening to the various arguments and viewpoints – and in particular from the Cameroonian meteorological authorities, the coaches and players – the representatives of the Afcon organising committee, which received the mandate from Caf Executive Committee to take the decision, has granted this request.

“A detailed reported shall be presented to the members of the Executive Committee during its next session on 6 February.”

Rashford Gamble ‘Backfired’ Ahead Of Liverpool Clash : Solskjaer

January 16th, 2020 by admin

Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has admitted that the gamble in bringing on Marcus Rashford against Wolves “backfired”.

Rashford lasted just 15 minutes as United won 1-0, after a clash with Wolves defender Matt Doherty.

The England striker is now a doubt for the trip to Anfield to face Liverpool on Sunday.

“It backfired. You have got to take them [risks] once in a while.

“He’ll be tested in the next few days – we have to see for Sunday.

“He couldn’t run. He struggled a little bit with his back and got another knock. It didn’t help,” Solskjaer told the media after the game.

United will face either Watford or Tranmere in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
